If you’ve recently received an email from Meta with the subject line “Your pixel is being used on a new domain”, you’re not alone. At AdVenture Media Group, we’ve seen this notification pop up across multiple client accounts, and while it might seem alarming at first, the fix is simple and takes just a few minutes.

Here’s a quick breakdown of what’s happening and what you should do next.

 Why Did You Get This Email?

Meta is alerting you that your business’s pixel is now firing events from a domain that hasn’t previously been associated with it. This can happen for a few common reasons:

  • You launched a new landing page or microsite
  • You’re using a third-party platform that embeds your pixel
  • Someone else might be unintentionally (or maliciously) firing events to your pixel

To keep your pixel data clean and secure, Meta recommends creating a Traffic Allow List and excluding any unfamiliar or unauthorized domains.

How To Fix It (Step-by-Step)

Here’s how to update your Meta Pixel settings and manage your domain allow list:

1. Go to Meta Events Manager

2. Select the correct Pixel

Make sure you’re working in the right Business Manager and selecting the right pixel from the list.

3. Click the “Settings” tab

You’ll find this at the top of your pixel workspace.

4. Scroll down to the Traffic Permission section

5. Click Create Allow List

6. Add your domain

If your domain is already listed, toggle to add to allow list next to it.

If it’s not listed, manually add your main domain (e.g., yoursite.com).

Note: Any subdomains (like shop.yoursite.com or blog.yoursite.com) will be automatically included if you add the main domain.

7. Save and close

Your settings are now updated, and your pixel will only fire events from approved domains going forward.
